Pre-Purchase Inspections
Just because it looks good doesn’t mean it is good
Used machines can hide nasty surprises — from cracked frames to leaking hydraulics and hidden engine faults. That fresh paint job? Might be covering a whole lot of issues.
Our 12-point Pre-Purchase Inspection uncovers what sellers don’t tell you, so you can buy with confidence — not regret.
✅ Auction, hire fleet, or private sale
✅ Visual checks or full mechanical reports
✅ Servicing buyers across QLD
Book before you buy. Trust us, it’s worth it.
When you’re buying secondhand gear from an auction, hire fleet, or private seller, you’re relying on limited info — or worse, false confidence. Whether you’re after a visual condition check or a comprehensive mechanical review, we’ve got an inspection tier to match your level of risk and investment.
Uncover Hidden Defects
Identify issues not visible during casual checks—such as fluid leaks, worn engine mounts, rust, or subframe damage. Using advanced diagnostics and professional mechanical inspection ensures no surprise faults down the track.
Comprehensive Engine & Mechanical Screening
Evaluate critical systems—engine, cooling, transmission, drivetrain—for leaks, noises, or unusual wear. Includes fluid checks, smoke assessments, and diagnostic scans for hidden faults.
Electrical System & Diagnostic Code Scan
Test battery, lights, infotainment, air-conditioning and run a full ECU scan to flag historical or active fault codes.
Interior, Exterior & Undercarriage Condition
Check body panels for repairs, rust, dents, and paint inconsistencies. Inside, inspect seats, controls, wiring, and warning lights. Use hoist examinations to spot underbody damage.
Real‑World Test
We perform comprehensive functional testing in our workshop, simulating real-world operation as closely as possible. This includes assessing engine response, hydraulic performance, control precision, and overall system behaviour. The goal is to ensure your machine is ready to perform reliably and safely once it’s back on site.
Clear, Expert Reporting
Receive a professional report with photos, diagnostics, and expert insights—empowering confident decisions and giving clarity on next steps.
Frequently Asked Questions
Pre-Purchase Inspections FAQs
Q: What types of equipment do you inspect?
A: We primarily inspect construction equipment such as excavators, skid steers, track loaders, mini loaders, and similar compact machines.
Q: Where is the inspection carried out?
A: We can perform inspections onsite (auction yards, dealerships, private sellers) or in our Rocklea workshop if the machine is transported to us.
Q: What are the inspection levels and what do they include?
A: We offer three levels: Visual (from $695), Standard, and Comprehensive. Each step adds more depth including diagnostics, sampling, and mechanical testing.
Q: Do I get a report?
A: Yes. All inspection levels include a technician report. Standard and Comprehensive also include condition photos and specific findings.
Q: Can I be present during the inspection?
A: We prefer to complete inspections without distractions to ensure thorough and accurate assessment. You’ll receive a full report afterwards.
Q: What if I decide not to buy the machine?
A: That’s perfectly fine — the inspection may have saved you from a costly mistake. It’s a small investment for peace of mind.
Q: Can I use the report to negotiate the sale price?
A: Absolutely. Many of our clients use our findings to reduce the purchase price or request repairs before committing to the sale.
Q: Do you only inspect locally?
A: We’re happy to inspect equipment outside Brisbane. If you believe it’s worth us attending, we’ll provide an estimate including travel costs.
